Whats up! But where, oh where, did they get the movie’s ending? Is it within the original novel, “message in a bottle lyrics in a Bottle,” by Nicholas Sparks ? Do not know. Have not learn it. The climactic events are shameless, contrived, and wildly out of tune with the rest of the story. To saddle Costner, Penn and Newman with such goofy melodrama is like hiring Fred Astaire and strapping a tractor on his back.
The movie is about a man and a lady who consider in great real love. The man believes it’s behind him; the girl hopes it is forward of her. One of their ideals in life is “to be any person’s true north.” Immediately we all know they’re in trouble. You don’t simply discover true love. You workforce up with someone, and build it from the bottom up. However “Message in a Bottle” believes in the sort of love where the romantic music comes first, trembling and sweeping underneath every scene, and the dialogue is handled just like the lyrics.
